Do you think SEO (Search Engine Optimization - ranking #1 in Google) is important for a clan? Or is it more important to focus on advertising in-game?

What about Craig's List for finding local gamers? I have heard some success stories, but have never tried it myself.

Search Engine Optimisation is the best choice of advertising.
Use google.com and justsearching.co.uk.
And possibly use yahoo engine.

As for me, I don't think so. For example you're playing Counter Strike and you made a site for a clam your clan. Where would you get other get members to join you? You'll advertise? No, you'll probably get your members within the game, like those who you've played with. Then offer them your clan and that's it. But to use SEO just for exposure of your clan site? I don't think so. But this is just my opinion of course.

It depends really but generally, yes. SEO would be great to advertise your clans. But like what savvyeyty have said, if its a clan for a certain type of game, then even I don't think you have to advertise it with SEO so much. Word of mouth would be good in that kind of stuff so it really depends. You would want to join in an anonymous clan of gamers right?
